I’m a Scottish-born naturalized citizen who moved to the United States thirty years ago. I teach Media and Communication at St. John Fisher University, Rochester, NY, where I’ve been since 2006. For the past 15 years I’ve had a second life working and volunteering at various historic sites and monuments in the US. I spent six years as a seasonal ranger at two national parks (Independence and Saratoga) and have worked or volunteered at three more historic sites (Valley Forge NHP, Old Fort Niagara, and Women’s Rights NHP). I’ve visited hundreds more historic parks and sites around the country, from San Antonio to San Juan Island and from Saint Croix Island to San Francisco Maritime NHP.
